Kim Hyo-joo started with a joint lead at the US Women’s Open, the third major tournament of the LPGA Tour season.
On the 7th (Korean time) at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach안전놀이터, California, USA, Kim Hyo-joo recorded 4 under par 68 while catching 5 birdies (1 bogey) in the first round of the tournament.
With this, Kim Hyo-joo tied for the lead with China’s Lin Xiu, and happily ended her first day of the event. Kim Hyo-joo is attempting to win two majors for the first time in nine years since the 2014 Evian Championship.
Among Korean players, Kim Hyo-joo tied for the lead, followed by Yoo Hae-ran, who is running first as the Rookie of the Year on the LPGA Tour this season, tied for third with a 3-under-par 69.
Following Yoo Hae-ran, Yang Hee-yeong and Lee Jung-eun tied for ninth with a 2-under 70, Shin Ji-ae, who is active in Japan, tied for 13th with a 1-under 71, and Park Min-ji, the strongest player in Korea, sluggishly tied for 101st with a 5-over par.
On the other hand, Chinese players continue to be strong in this tournament as well. China’s Lin Xiyu is aiming for her second consecutive championship, following Yin Luoning, who became the champion of the tournament by finishing third at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, a major tournament held last month.
