Suwon FC has finally completed the installation of the lighting tower.
Suwon Sports Complex, the home stadium of Suwon FC, has four lighting towers. Until the home game last March, only the ‘top’ was standing in this lighting tower without lighting. This is because the work of removing the old lights and installing new ones has not yet been completed.
Suwon FC finished the construction of the lighting tower by early April, and was scheduled to play their home match against Daejeon Hana Citizen on the 9th at 7pm. But the plans were disrupted. The light tower replacement work was delayed. Because of this, the kick-off time for the Suwon FC-Daejeon match was changed from 7:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Fortunately, due to the still chilly spring weather, daytime games were more comfortable for both players and spectators. Also, it was sunny without rain in Suwon every 3 home games. The Pohang Steelers match (3.4 2pm), Suwon Samsung match (3.11 2pm), and Daejeon match (4.9 3pm) all went without a hitch.
Suwon FC Women, who use the same stadium as their home stadium, had a different situation. Suwon FC Women were assigned home games in March and early April at 7pm on weekdays. It was a time when the lighting tower was essential. Suwon FC Women played 2 WK League matches at Suwon World Cup Stadium next door after leaving the Suwon Sports Complex without a light tower.
There was also some friction for a while. Some fans of Suwon Samsung, who use the Suwon World Cup Stadium as their home, criticize Suwon FC Women’s Social Media (SNS), saying, “If the home stadium lighting construction is not finished, we can play away games during that period. Why do we use our home stadium temporarily?” did.
Suwon FC Women’s next home game is the 5th round of the WK League against Seoul City Hall scheduled for 7:00 pm on the 18th. The match will be held brightly under the new lighting of Suwon Sports Complex, the existing home stadium.
